Oog in Al is a former outpost which was founded around 1664 by Everard Meyster. The former mayor of Utrecht had large-scale expansion plans for the city. A little outside the city, Everard Meyster built an outpost along Leidse Vaart, so that he could keep an eye on the expansion work. The outpost was therefore given the name Oog in Al (Eye in All). Ultimately, the expansion did not take off.
