  • The present neighbourhood Zuilen came about at the beginning of the 20th century due to the expansion of the old village for the sake of the workers of Werkspoor and Demka factories that were located along the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal.
  • Zuilen is characterised by working-class houses from the 1910s to 1935. The northern part of the neighbourhood has many post-war apartments.
